Online Teaching Resources

The Office of Digital Learning & Instructional Design Services has a long history of developing, mentoring, supporting, and collaborating with Mount Saint Mary College faculty with their pursuits in online coursework. Regardless of your course’s modality (i.e., web-enhanced, hybrid, online), this page aims to provide you with effective and research-based resources, practices, and services to support your unique professional needs.

Please see below for resources, templates, and guides tailored to support faculty developing content for hybrid and online courses. Also view our “Related Pages” for other important insights for online course design.

Faculty who teach fully online courses at MSMC will need to undertake certain steps prior to course delivery. Use this checklist to ensure you’ve met the necessary training requirements and are equipping yourself (and your course) for success!

For faculty that are teaching hybrid or fully online, the Online Course Review Tool provides a roadmap for developing high-quality online course content that complies with Federal and State regulations, as well as instructional best practices per the College’s Distance Education Policy (2020).

All faculty members are welcome to use the Online Course Review Tool to “self-check” their online courses whenever they teach. This may highlight areas of interest or development for your course design, which can be further discussed in a consultation with one of our Instructional Designers, if you would like support and input from our office.

A self-evaluation and feedback from an Instructional Designer are also required components of the Training to Teach Online (TTOL) for any faculty that need to be certified to teach online courses.
