Mission Statement

Digital Learning and Instructional Design Services (DLIDS) supports Mount Saint Mary College’s mission by advancing student success, instructional excellence, and innovation in teaching and learning through the strategic use of educational technology, instructional design, and quality assurance practices. Through collaboration with faculty, students, academic leaders, and institutional partners, DLIDS develops and supports high-quality online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced learning experiences that promote engagement, accessibility, and academic achievement.

Recognizing that higher education and digital learning are continually evolving, DLIDS provides leadership in instructional design, learning management system administration, faculty development, online program development, student support, and emerging technologies. The office leverages data-informed practices, accreditation standards, and evidence-based approaches to support continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness.

DLIDS is committed to fostering inclusive and accessible learning environments through the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and industry standards. By supporting academic quality, innovation, enrollment initiatives, and student success, DLIDS serves as a strategic institutional partner in advancing the college’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Functions

  • Support the effective use, continuous improvement, and accessibility of the college’s learning management system, eClass (Moodle), ensuring a reliable and engaging digital learning environment.
  • Advance the hybrid, blended, and online learning goals of academic units through collaborative course development, instructional support, and strategic partnerships.
  • Foster and enhance innovative, evidence-based teaching practices, active learning, and meaningful technology integration across web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online courses.
  • Promote student learning, engagement, and academic success in technology-enhanced, blended, hybrid, and online learning environments in support of college’s mission, vision, and core values.
