Recording & Sketch Tools in eClass

The enhanced text editor (TinyMCE) in eClass now includes built-in features to record audio, video, screen, and sketch without the need for extra tools.

Recorded Assignment Submissions

In activities like assignments, forums, quizzes, and more, students can submit audio, video or screen recordings (when enabled by the instructor). This allows students to record themselves or their screen instead of typing out there response to a prompt, or assignment. Audio, video, and screen recording are great for “show, don’t tell” assignments like software demos, lab procedures, digital art showcases, coding walkthroughs, video essays, and virtual tours.

Recorded Feedback

Recorded audio and video feedback can boost student understanding, motivation, and engagement. It offers personalized, detailed, and contextualized input that is often easier to process than text. This approach saves instructors time while enabling richer communication through tone or visual demonstration. As a result, students can self-assess and improve their skills more effectively.

Watch an overview of these features below!

Sketch Tool

The Sketch Tool allows you to create and edit diagrams, illustrations, annotations, and other visual content directly within your course activities. You can draw freehand, add shapes and labels, insert images, and use editing tools to refine your work. The Sketch Tool is especially useful for assignments that require visual explanations, concept maps, process diagrams, scientific structures, or image editing.

This resource provides step-by-step instructions and examples to help you learn the Sketch Tool’s features and create polished visual submissions. Whether you are drawing from scratch or editing an existing image, the Sketch Tool offers a simple way to communicate ideas visually within eClass.
